Can any student apply for a loan?
Currently loans are available to both U.S. and Canadian citizen students. International students can apply for loans if they have a qualified US Citizen or Permanent resident cosigner. The loan amounts and maximums may vary depending on whether a co-signer is available. Please contact us for more information.

 I don't have a co-signer? Can I still get a loan?
Yes, loans are available for students without co-signers. By using a co-signer you may be eligible for a larger amount of borrowing.

I have a bankruptcy, a foreclosure or excessive delinquencies on my credit report. Can I get a loan?
Yes, loans may be available, but past difficulties must be at least 5 years old, bankruptcies must be at least 10 years old, and you must have begun reestablishing your credit. We do have lenders that will provide loans for students with these financial problems, if they have a strong cosigner. Students who have excessive delinquencies will need letters explaining why the problems occurred and how they are going to avoid those problems in the future.

I defaulted on a previous student loan. Can I get another one now?
Usually, finance companies, banks and lenders do not allow for "second defaults," if you defaulted on a student loan in the past. You will need to clear it up before applying successfully for another one.

My loan was denied. Now what can I do?
All of our loan programs offer a "second look". For a loan to be reconsidered there must be sufficient documentation to validate the necessity of reviewing the file again. This means that you need explanation letters for problem vendors, paid receipts for unpaid bills, and anything else that you think can help revitalize your credit report. Also, a detailed letter of explanation from you explaining why you should be reconsidered is necessary.

I have graduated but still owe money. Can I can obtain a loan for recent past due balances?
Our lenders have loan programs that allow students to apply for funds even if you have recently graduated. All that is needed is proof of enrollment for the time indicated on the loan and proof of the debt that is owed to the school. Contact us if you qualify.

What do I do if I have not received a tuition invoice?
You are responsible for paying your tuition 30 days prior to the start of that term. If you have not received an invoice you may contact the Bursar’s Office to request a copy of your statement and to confirm your current address, email address, and phone number.

What do I do if I receive a bill for a late tuition payment?
The policy on tuition is clear: Tuition is due 30 days prior to the start of the term. If a student is applying for loans and communication is ongoing with the Financial Aid Office, then late fees may be waived. If a student is assessed with a late fee, they can contact the Bursar’s Office to request a review of their account to see why the late fee was assessed. This is only a review request process and does not mean the late fee will automatically be waived unless acceptable reasons exist.

Does the University of Sint Eustatius participate in federal loan programs?

At the present time, this University (like most Caribbean medical schools) does not participate in the federal Stafford Loan programs.
