VISA LIST / PROCESS

Visa requirements for entry into the Netherlands-Antilles:

Please read the following section carefully to determine if your situation requires you to obtain a Visa for entry into the island of St. Eustatius. If after reading this section you are still unsure if you require a Visa for entry please contact the admissions office in NY for assistance. If you arrive without a Visa, and you are required to have one, then you will be refused entry and turned back. Therefore it is imperative that you read through the following section carefully to determine if you require a Visa for entry.

Please review the Visa Countries List below to determine your status and follow directions listed.

If you are a resident of one of these countries listed below, and hold a passport from one of these countries then a visa IS required for arrival into the Netherlands-Antilles.

If you have been residing in a non listed country, under a visa stay, but still hold a passport from a country on the list, then a visa MUST still be obtained for arrival into the Netherlands Antilles.

If you are living permanently in a non listed country and have PERMANENT RESIDENCY in that country, even if you hold a passport from one of the countries on the list, then you do NOT require a visa to enter the Netherlands Antilles.

If your country of residence is listed below and you require a Visa for entry into Sint Eustatius then please go to read below Visa Application Process.

If you find that you do NOT need a visa to enter Sint Eustatius, then please view the ESSENTIAL IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTATION, that must be brought with you to the island.

Visa Application Process
Visas are obtained from your nearest local Dutch Embassy. However, before applying for a visa you must have a permission to land letter (PLL) from the local immigration department on the island of St. Eustatius. To obtain the PLL we (the school) must apply on your behalf for an island Temporary Residency Permit.

To obtain this the student MUST first be officially accepted to the University and send to the medical school on island ALL of the documentation that is listed under ESSENTIAL IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTATION.

These original documents (NO copies will be accepted) should be forwarded to the following: University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine, Attn: Immigration Affairs, All Run Building, Golden Rock, Sint Eustatius, Netherland-Antilles, Dutch Caribbean. Once the school is issued with the PLL this will then be Federal Expressed to the student, allowing for the student to apply for application for Visa from their nearest local Dutch Embassy.

Additional to the PPL the student must also present for visa application at the Dutch Embassy the official acceptance letter from the school.

The subsequent Visa that is then given to you must be with you to enter St. Eustatius. If you do NOT have this visa on you on your arrival, you will be refused entry by immigration.

The section above details how to obtain a visa for entry to the island of St. Eustatius. Once on island we (the school) on your behalf must apply for a temporary residency permit for you. Therefore, even if you are from one of the countries that require a Visa for entry into St. Eustatius, you must ALSO bring to the island with you the documents listed under ESSENTIAL IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTATION.
